Wait a minute! Do you realize Easter is less than a week away? Hopefully you’ve got that extra bit of spring in your step and you’re ready for an egg-xtra fun project! Megan Hoeppner and I had a blast using our scrapbooking supplies to decorate these adorable eggs. The possibilities are endless, and the results are super-way-dang (that’s like the ultimate in cuteness)! We opted not to dye our eggs before decorating them, but remember this is your creative time and you can do whatever you want!

Spot-on

These happy polka-dot eggs were easier to create than you might think. Megan first started by placing a glue dot onto her egg. She then dipped the egg into a small pile of flock, used her finger to make sure it was pressed in well to each glue dot, then gently brushed off the excess and repeated the process.

Absolutely Frilling

Ribbon is one of my favorite supplies, and ribbon scraps are perfect for decorating eggs. My orange egg was dyed using spray ink. Once dried, I adhered a large layer of ribbon around it, then a thin sheer ribbon over the top of the large ribbon. For the green and purple egg, I simply used Smooch ink, from Clearsnap, to create my green horizontal lines. Then I placed strips of ribbon in-between the lines. Finally, I tied a bow with the ribbon and adhered that to the top of my egg.

Rubbing me the right way

You can do so much with rub-ons! Megan created this fun spring scene using these yummy rub-ons from Hambly Screen Prints. The grass on Megan’s egg was created by painting small blades with Smooch ink. This same technique would be super cute on an Earth Day project, which just happens to be celebrating it’s 40 anniversary on April 22, 2010.

Speckles of happiness

This egg just makes me smile. When colors like these work so well together, it’s almost like they were two birds of a feather! Megan sprayed the egg with one color and allowed it to dry completely. Then she lightly sprayed the second color. Remember, sometimes less is more. Create a light mist affect by spraying from a distance rather than too closely.

Blooming with color

Oh my gosh! This egg is cuter than cute and definitely sprouting to the occasion. Nothing says spring like bright vibrant flowers. Add a little sparkle and the world couldn’t get any sweeter! Start by applying ink to create your petals. using a small foam square, dip one side into glitter and adhere the other side to the center of your flower. Hippity, hoppity for sure!

The write stuff

Everything’s better when it’s personalized! You can create these one-of-a-kind eggs for yourself and all your flock too. All you need is glitter glue and a little imagination.

I hope these techniques give you at least a dozen of your own incredible ideas. We’d love to see what you come up with. Share your projects with us in the Club CK idea gallery.

Lara PenrodHave you ever wondered what you’d do with some of the many adhesive products you see on the market today? Like you, I often think, “I’m sure that product’s really cool—if only I knew what to do with it.” We’ve put together a few techniques using adhesive to get you started. Hopefully, they’ll answer a few questions for you, and get you playing to find some of your own great techniques.

Adhesives Stickers

These fun adhesives will help you add a little sparkle to any project quickly. And they’re super easy to use!

Simply remove the backing from the sticker, place the design on your cardstock,  peel away the cover paper, and apply glitter.

Sticker-Glitter_s2_v2

It’s that quick! If you want to use a couple different colors of glitter, simply peel away only a portion of the cover paper, and apply your first glitter.

Then peel away the remaining cover paper, and apply your second glitter.

In just moments, you’ll have a fun, sparkly accent for your page. Our cute cupcake came from Baby Cakes Design Adhesives by Clearsnap.

Glue Pens

We all have a glue pen in our stash of tools. But your glue pen can do more than just adhere cardstock and photos to your page. It’s also the perfect tool to apply glitter to a small area, adding that little bit of zing to your page. I used my glue pen to add glitter to one of the flowers on my patterned paper.

Pen-and-Paper_Adhesive-Week

To create this effect, simply trace the outline with your glue pen,

 Pen-Glitter-Flower_s1_v2

add glitter and shake off the excess glitter. I loved this paper before, but the glitter just added that little something extra.

You can also use your glue pen to add dimension to your page by applying flock to buttons or brads.

Apply glue directly to the brad,

 dip the brad in flock,

 Flock-Brad_s2_v2

rub the flock into the glue with your finger,

Flock-Brad_s3_v2

shake off the excess, and you’ve got a colorful, flocked brad!

Try using the Zig 2-Way Glue pen by EK Sucess for this technique.

Glue Pads

The best invention since white bread! Oh yes, I was that excited when I saw glue pads hit the market. They’re just like ink pads, but they’re glue! What a great way to apply glitter and flock to you pages. You can use them with stamps or to cover whole pieces of chipboard. For these projects, I used the Essential Glue Pad from Tsukineko.

Glue-Pad-Stamps_Adhesive-We

To stamp an image, simply “ink” your stamp using the glue pad,

 stamp the image,

and apply glitter or flock and shake off the excess.

Tip: One thing we found while using flock is that it works best with less intricate designs.

Another technique to try is covering an entire piece of chipboard with glitter or flock. First, simply press the chipboard onto the glue pad,

then apply glitter or flock and shake off the excess.

It’s that easy. And once it’s dry, the glitter stays in place!

Adhesive Sheets

Perhaps you couldn’t think of a use for a full sheet of adhesive, but I’m here to tell you, this is one product you’re going to want in your toolbox. It’s great for adhering those tiny or intricate elements your page, such a little letters.

Sheet-Adhesive-Letters_Adhe

Cut the sheet of adhesive to the desired size.

  Sheet-Adhesive_s1_v2

Then apply the adhesive sheet to your patterned paper or cardstock.

Sheet-Adhesive_s2_v2

Cut out your letters or shape.

Sheet-Adhesive_s3_v2

Remove the letters or shapes for the backing,

 Sheet-Adhesive_s4_v2

 and adhere to your page.

Sheet-Adhesive_s5_v2

Using adhesive sheets is so much easier than trying to apply adhesive to tiny pieces. And if you’re using an alphabet die, you’ve got extra letters to use another day.

While adhesive sheets make light work of adhering tiny embellishments, you can also think big when it comes to this great product. Using a sheet of adhesive is also a great way to cover a large area of your page.

Sheet-Adhesive-Page_Adhesiv

Here I’ve created a quick border for my page using a strip of adhesive and flock. Trim an adhesive sheet to the size of your page and apply to the edge. You’ve covered a large area of your page in no time! Give the 12″ x 12″ Adhesive Sheets from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L a try for these great project ideas.

We hope this quick look at a few adhesive techniques gets your creative juices flowing. Leave us a comment and let us know how you’re using these great adhesive products. We’ll select two winners from the comments to each win an adhesive grab bag.

Wendy-SmedleyWow! Thanks for the opportunity to guest blog today. My name is Wendy Smedley, and I’m excited to be here.

Hard to believe that fall is all around us. As the season changes once again, it’s time to stop and celebrate accomplishments. To me, this is what scrapbooking is all about—photographing and writing about life’s grand and small triumphs.

Last month my family celebrated my mom’s 10-year-cancer-free anniversary. (She had breast cancer.) It was a time for us to recall some of the yucky stuff that happened and the good stuff that we witnessed. The most important aspect of my mom’s fight with cancer is the fact that we supported her. We visited, called, sent treats, shared books, and listened to her when she felt like talking.

To make my page commenorating my mom, I wanted to use glitter products, to symblize the happiness we all felt at this milestone.

Since the number 10 is an important piece on my page, I wanted to do something extra special with it. I decided to give it horizontal strips using glitter and paint. Here’s how I created this cool effect:

Macro_10Years

Step 1: Paint your chipboard white.

step-1

Step 2: Once the numbers are dry, lightly adhere double-stick tape in horizontal stripes. This will act as a mask.   step-2

Step 3: Apply a wet adhesive to the exposed areas of the chipboard and quickly sprinkle on the glitter. Let the numbers dry. step-3

Step 4: Peel back the tape to reveal your shining results!

step-4

Regardless of what you are commemorating this season, take the time to scrapbook it.

Breast Cancer Support
Speaking of products, earlier this week Megan shared some scrapbook products that correlate in some way with the fight against breast cancer. I recommend that you support those manufacturers however you can. So many women are affected by this disease. It’s wonderful that we can help through shopping.

Another way to show support of cancers of all types is Locks of Love. Ten months ago, Megan, Angie Lucas and I made a pack to grow our hair for this worthwhile organization. We don’t have enough length just yet, but we’re getting close. Check out our blogs today to see how far we’ve come!

This was taken the day Megan and I decided to grow our hair for Locks of Love.

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed our glitter playtime as much as I have. Remember, your moments and achievements are worth celebrating. Don’t be afraid to make those pages shine!
