Happy Easter, and thanks for stopping by the Creating Keepsakes blog today. We hope the day is bringing you at least some semblance of spring weather.

No matter how old my siblings and I get, we still get together every year to color Easter eggs. For some reason this activity has never lost its appeal for us. Maybe because we’re always a bit goofy while we do it.

One of the (many) great things about the March/April issue of Creating Keepsakes, is the article, “The Good, the Fab, and the Spectacular” in which we show you how to take an event you celebrate every year and mix it up to create some spectacular Easter layouts.

I especially like this layout from Susan Weinroth. I love how she created the grass and highlighted her photos within egg-shaped frames.

"Easter Egg Clean-Up” by Susan Weinroth, as seen in the March/April 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes, page 87.

I also love the various textures Erin Lincoln used for her egg accents on her layout.

“Easter for Grown Ups” by Erin Lincoln, as seen in the March/April 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes, page 86.

Leave us a comment and let us know how you add “egg-tra” special touches to your Easter layouts. I’ll choose two lucky comments to win this great Easter product from Jillibean Soup. Winners will be chosen on Friday, April 9, 2010.

And if you haven’t actually gotten around to coloring those eggs yet, check out this video from Martha Stewart Living on how to use a fun masking technique to create some pretty amazing eggs. (The video will play on the lower-right side of the screen after a quick ad.)

Happy Easter!

  1. No coloring eggs for me, but I love these layouts! I especially like the egg shaped embellishments on Easter for Grown Ups. Happy Easter, CK!

  2. Happy Easter everyone!

  3. Easter holds a lot of special childhood memories always spent with my grandparents. I miss them each and every day.

  4. Happy Easter!!! Love the Easter pages.

  5. As I explained to my husband this morning: “You realize the Easter Egg Hunt is for me, not the kids?” I think I get more enjoyment from placing the eggs in strategic spots in the yard, on the fence and in flower pots then the kids get in looking for them, lol.

  6. Now that I have kids I always try and do something special for the kids. For the scrapbooking page I would probably use my cricut and my easter software on it, add a few some bling to it and done.

  7. I add lots of bright eastery colors.

  8. I like to add rhinestones and spring flowers.

  9. I love the egg shape off the photos on “Easter Egg Clean Up” layout. I can’t wait to do it with my kids pics.

  10. Adorable pages from both ladies! Easter is always a fun day for us. Not only do we remember what the celebration is all about, but it’s a fun day for the children. Infact this morning my 3 yr old woke up and the first thing out of her mouth was, “chocolate bunny. I gotta go find him.” 🙂 That’s something I will be definitely adding to my Easter layouts this year.

  11. Our two year old son is autistic. This year is the first time he really took in interest in coloring eggs and an egg hunt. Later today we head to my family’s and are having another egg hunt with along with my nephews and niece. I can’t wait to capture my son’s very special moments on a layout. I took photos of the eggs he colored and I am making a paper piecing of the easter bunny. Great springy colors.

  12. I like to stamp embellishments and use watercolor markers…

  13. LOVE those LO’s!

  14. In the past, just some bright colors to match the egg dye. This year, I’ll use my Cricut to cut some eggs and do some of Erin Lincoln’s fun treatments! They were fantastic!

  15. Love the textured eggs and the layouts.

  16. Happy Easter! I bought the Martha Stewart Fringe scissors to use on my Easter layouts this year to make grass for the egg hunt layout and as the shred in the Easter basket. I think it is a fun tool.

  17. I also love to use texture and ink for that little extra.

  18. Happy Easter!! Those LO’s are so cute! I love the bright colors!

  19. Love Jillibean!!! Thanks for the givewaway!!!

  20. I loved the Easter for grown-ups. I do little Easter baskets for all my scrapbook friends and they always consist of some cute Easter Bling and glitter for those upcoming pages!!

  21. Rainy Easter here in Central California. We will hide eggs in the house and garage!!!

  22. Love the easter scrappages. I think they are so fun because you can use all your odds and ends from rick rack to bling and alphabets, stickers and buttons to decorate eggs on the pages. My favorite page I did for Easter was called Coloring Eggs Plastic &Hard boiled. My son was a toddler and maticulously colored plastic eggs to keep up with big sis. It was precious. Hope you all make fabulous memories today!

  23. Happy Easter! Thanks for the giveaway and sharing the cute layouts!

  24. Wow! I really love the teal blue color with the red combination! So pretty!

  25. This is my baby son’s first easter and I’m taking lots of pictures to do an Easter layout, with lots of spring colors, bling and Easter diecuts using my cricut!
These layouts are great and give me some awesome inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

  26. Cute!

  27. Jillibean is a fav! We’re traveling, so no family gathering at the house this year. I took over the tradition after Mom passed. Seems strange not to be making potato salad and baking the ham!
    Happy Easter everyone!

  28. I love to add sparkle to my Easter LOs with glitter pens or stickles.

  29. happy easter!

  30. I love these layouts and all the techniques used. This year in my Easter layouts I am going to use some of these to add that special touch. I also used my scrapbooking supplies to “color” my Easter eggs. I stamped designs on my eggs in colored chalk ink. They look cute. I also used paper flowers to decorate some. My children are all grown up but I still like to hide a few eggs for them to find. Its important to let the inner chid in us have some fun too.

  31. I think Easter pages need a little glitter! This Jillibean prize is amazing! Thanks for the opportunity to win! Happy Easter!

  32. Happy Easter! Love the contest.

  33. Easter Blessings!

  34. I love the layouts on here!! Easter is one of my favorite holidays to scrap – so colorful!! You can use bright colors to match the candies and colored eggs, soft pastels to match the pretty Easter outfits, or go wild with spring flowers – like a beautiful Easter Bonnet!!

  35. am having a downer Easter for multiple reasons…have decided to scrap for therapy….Hope everyone has a better day than me~!

  36. Bling! Always bling! My Easter cards had bling on the die cut colored eggs to give them more pizazz. Since we have no kids I don’t do a lot of Easter pages, but this morning we had a nesting pair of mallards visit our front yard (and the female on our front steps!) so I’ll probably incorporate the pictures into an Easter LO.

  37. Isnt Easter the best! Spring time makes me SO happy, the windows are open a breeze is coming thru, I can hear birds chirping and see the beautiful daffodils that I planted as bulbs before the long cold winter now bursting with glorious color. Ahh, This set of Jillibean Easter goodies makes me smile thinking of all things good about this time of year~Thanks CK

  38. Happy Easter!! I scrap my four grandsons. They aren’t able to be here this Easter. BUT, their Mom’s will send me lots of pictures to scrap. I love the egg border on Erin Lincoln’s page. These will be fun to add to my pages using my Cricut. Both layouts are wonderful. I love all Easter layouts they are so bright and happy.

  42. Love the springy colours!

  43. I like to use Eastery colors and springlike embellishments.

  44. I love using spring colors and embellishments. The kids get to have the fun of dying the eggs & I get to have the fun of making the layouts! And I agree that the egg hunts and activities are as much for us scrappers as for the kids – if not more so LOL! Happy Easter all!

  45. I like ribbon, rhinestones, buttons and other embellishments that add texture to flat diecuts. Thanks for sharing the inspirational layouts.

  46. I’m always a fan of adding glitter to my Easter layouts. I love the extra sparkle.

  47. I’ve never actually *made* an Easter layout! This year will be the first, with photos of my little one coloring eggs! 🙂

  48. Love these Easter layouts. In my Spring/Easter pages I use a lot of pastel colors & threads. Makes them just “feel” like spring to me, even if I’m working on them in the middle of winter.

I’m a single mom and to make Easter special for my daughter, the Easter Bunny hides eggs all over the house. She was remembering all the places they were hid last year and they weren’t there this year. She was too cute trying to find them all.

  49. Nice LOs! Thanks!

  50. We always do our own private egg hunt, and scrapping the photos of my kids finding their eggs is a page I look forward to all year!

  51. I like to use lots of yellow and a bit of green… Some glitter and Eastery elements such as eggs or bunnies.

  52. I love singing all the Easter Hymns at church!

  53. I lik to add little bits of spring, like grass cutouts, bug and flower embellishments and lots of bright spring colors.

  58. Happy Easter CK!! Love the layouts and for me personally I gotta have a bit of glitter and something soft and fuzzy on my Easter layouts =)

  59. I take pictures of each of the eggs that my son and I color. I always print extra copies so I can cut out each egg and use them as embellishments on the layout. Happy Easter!!

  60. I love those layouts! Every year we get a picture with one of the kids looking for eggs with one right in plain sight that they are missing, lol! I like to put arrows to the not so well hidden one on the layout.

  68. I’d use it to make our easter egg dying pages pop! thanks for the chance to win.

  69. I love the red in the layout shown here. My granddaughter was dressed in purple but I think I’ll use red on my pages. I’m tired of all those “Easter pastels”!

  70. Happy easter!

We’ve spent half of the vaccation with friends in their beautiful little house far into the woods, and the other part in the capitol of Denmark. Just for the balance 😀

  76. My Cricut has the most darling Easter accessories– I love using them on my pages.

  77. Happy Easter!
I like to use crackle paint on my egg embellishments, gives a really interesting finish.

  78. I have two boys, so adding pastel and spring bling to layouts is kind of difficult. I try to use more “masculine” looking color combinations that still bring out the joy and meaning of the Easter season.

  79. Ribbons always add a bit of fun frill for Easter layouts in my albums…love that Jillibean!

  80. I don’t do anything special for Easter layouts, I scrap as usual… Does that make me boring? 🙂 I love the layouts you shared here!

  108. I try to add forgotten pictures of family members along with new additions so the newer generations remember where it started 

  109. I’m so ridiculously behind I haven’t scrapped Easter in several years!! YIKES! My daughter is 5 and this year was SO fun to color eggs with her- I can at least see the pages…. 🙂

  110. lots of bright pink instead of all the pastels

  111. My Easter layouts are all about the outdoor hunt… and capturing our surroundings just as much as my kids in action… This year’s will have snow!

  112. I have a layout that I am planning in which I would like to use glued on powder for a crushed velvet look. I am going to make polka dots with this and other mediums. I also want to do an oval frame around the pix.

  113. Bright colors! Easter is the beginning of an onset of color around my yard, and bright colors say Easter to me!

  114. This Easter, I’m going to mix it up by creating an egg shaped layout instead of my normal 12×12 square.

  115. The only special thing I do with Easter is going to a Jesus Christ Superstar sing-a-long on Good Friday. So nothing easter here, but I do celebrate spring with lots and lots of flowers. Both on my projects and in my house!

  116. Some cute Easter layouts!! Hope everyone had a great Easter!

  117. I’ve only ever made one Easter layout (so far), but I used yellow and purple, which I’ve always thought of as Easter colors. I *really* like Susan’s egg-shaped frames– I’ll have to remember that idea!!

  118. Great Easter pages. I took my pics from Easter, now to get them ready to scrap. Thanks for a chance to win.

  120. I don’t use a lot of glitter, but I think Easter is the perfect time to ad lots and lots of sparkle to layouts!

Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  129. I like to add green yarn to the bottom of pages so it looks like grass.

  131. Very seldom can I do an Easter LO without including some sort of ribbon. It just adds such a soft touch to the LO.

  132. I don’t make to many Easter cards but I really liked Susan Weinroth’s layout! Love the colors! Thanks for the chance to win!

  135. I am a huge glitter fan for all spring layouts!

  136. i like to add the foil from our easter eggs for a fun look 🙂

  138. We use those clear crayons to write on the egg before dying it—-the dye dosen’t adhere to it—kinda like using resist

  139. I add little bits and pieces from the egg dyeing process: the dipper, and unused egg holder…

  140. Easter Eggs are for kids! NOT!!! Even us adults love to eat chocolate and play egg-hunt games. I dressed up some beauties this year with rub-ons and glitter.
