Happy Easter, and thanks for stopping by the Creating Keepsakes blog today. We hope the day is bringing you at least some semblance of spring weather.
No matter how old my siblings and I get, we still get together every year to color Easter eggs. For some reason this activity has never lost its appeal for us. Maybe because we’re always a bit goofy while we do it.
One of the (many) great things about the March/April issue of Creating Keepsakes, is the article, “The Good, the Fab, and the Spectacular” in which we show you how to take an event you celebrate every year and mix it up to create some spectacular Easter layouts.
I especially like this layout from Susan Weinroth. I love how she created the grass and highlighted her photos within egg-shaped frames.
I also love the various textures Erin Lincoln used for her egg accents on her layout.
Leave us a comment and let us know how you add “egg-tra” special touches to your Easter layouts. I’ll choose two lucky comments to win this great Easter product from Jillibean Soup. Winners will be chosen on Friday, April 9, 2010.
And if you haven’t actually gotten around to coloring those eggs yet, check out this video from Martha Stewart Living on how to use a fun masking technique to create some pretty amazing eggs. (The video will play on the lower-right side of the screen after a quick ad.)
Happy Easter!

No coloring eggs for me, but I love these layouts! I especially like the egg shaped embellishments on Easter for Grown Ups. Happy Easter, CK!

Happy Easter!!! Love the Easter pages.
Comment by Jennifer— 04/04/2010 #
As I explained to my husband this morning: “You realize the Easter Egg Hunt is for me, not the kids?” I think I get more enjoyment from placing the eggs in strategic spots in the yard, on the fence and in flower pots then the kids get in looking for them, lol.
Comment by Allie Miller— 04/04/2010 #
Now that I have kids I always try and do something special for the kids. For the scrapbooking page I would probably use my cricut and my easter software on it, add a few some bling to it and done.
Comment by Shanda Berge— 04/04/2010 #
I add lots of bright eastery colors.

I love the egg shape off the photos on “Easter Egg Clean Up” layout. I can’t wait to do it with my kids pics.

Adorable pages from both ladies! Easter is always a fun day for us. Not only do we remember what the celebration is all about, but it’s a fun day for the children. Infact this morning my 3 yr old woke up and the first thing out of her mouth was, “chocolate bunny. I gotta go find him.” 🙂 That’s something I will be definitely adding to my Easter layouts this year.

Our two year old son is autistic. This year is the first time he really took in interest in coloring eggs and an egg hunt. Later today we head to my family’s and are having another egg hunt with along with my nephews and niece. I can’t wait to capture my son’s very special moments on a layout. I took photos of the eggs he colored and I am making a paper piecing of the easter bunny. Great springy colors.

In the past, just some bright colors to match the egg dye. This year, I’ll use my Cricut to cut some eggs and do some of Erin Lincoln’s fun treatments! They were fantastic!

Happy Easter! I bought the Martha Stewart Fringe scissors to use on my Easter layouts this year to make grass for the egg hunt layout and as the shred in the Easter basket. I think it is a fun tool.
Comment by KariLynn— 04/04/2010 #
I also love to use texture and ink for that little extra.

Rainy Easter here in Central California. We will hide eggs in the house and garage!!!
Comment by Paulette A.— 04/04/2010 #
Love the easter scrappages. I think they are so fun because you can use all your odds and ends from rick rack to bling and alphabets, stickers and buttons to decorate eggs on the pages. My favorite page I did for Easter was called Coloring Eggs Plastic &Hard boiled. My son was a toddler and maticulously colored plastic eggs to keep up with big sis. It was precious. Hope you all make fabulous memories today!

Jillibean is a fav! We’re traveling, so no family gathering at the house this year. I took over the tradition after Mom passed. Seems strange not to be making potato salad and baking the ham!

Comment by christine— 04/04/2010 #
I love these layouts and all the techniques used. This year in my Easter layouts I am going to use some of these to add that special touch. I also used my scrapbooking supplies to “color” my Easter eggs. I stamped designs on my eggs in colored chalk ink. They look cute. I also used paper flowers to decorate some. My children are all grown up but I still like to hide a few eggs for them to find. Its important to let the inner chid in us have some fun too.

I love the layouts on here!! Easter is one of my favorite holidays to scrap – so colorful!! You can use bright colors to match the candies and colored eggs, soft pastels to match the pretty Easter outfits, or go wild with spring flowers – like a beautiful Easter Bonnet!!
Comment by Cherrie— 04/04/2010 #
am having a downer Easter for multiple reasons…have decided to scrap for therapy….Hope everyone has a better day than me~!
Comment by Pam Kaszar— 04/04/2010 #
Bling! Always bling! My Easter cards had bling on the die cut colored eggs to give them more pizazz. Since we have no kids I don’t do a lot of Easter pages, but this morning we had a nesting pair of mallards visit our front yard (and the female on our front steps!) so I’ll probably incorporate the pictures into an Easter LO.
Comment by nerdgrl— 04/04/2010 #
Isnt Easter the best! Spring time makes me SO happy, the windows are open a breeze is coming thru, I can hear birds chirping and see the beautiful daffodils that I planted as bulbs before the long cold winter now bursting with glorious color. Ahh, This set of Jillibean Easter goodies makes me smile thinking of all things good about this time of year~Thanks CK

Happy Easter!! I scrap my four grandsons. They aren’t able to be here this Easter. BUT, their Mom’s will send me lots of pictures to scrap. I love the egg border on Erin Lincoln’s page. These will be fun to add to my pages using my Cricut. Both layouts are wonderful. I love all Easter layouts they are so bright and happy.

I love using spring colors and embellishments. The kids get to have the fun of dying the eggs & I get to have the fun of making the layouts! And I agree that the egg hunts and activities are as much for us scrappers as for the kids – if not more so LOL! Happy Easter all!

Love these Easter layouts. In my Spring/Easter pages I use a lot of pastel colors & threads. Makes them just “feel” like spring to me, even if I’m working on them in the middle of winter.
I’m a single mom and to make Easter special for my daughter, the Easter Bunny hides eggs all over the house. She was remembering all the places they were hid last year and they weren’t there this year. She was too cute trying to find them all.

I have two boys, so adding pastel and spring bling to layouts is kind of difficult. I try to use more “masculine” looking color combinations that still bring out the joy and meaning of the Easter season.

One of my favorite techniques for making my eggs on scrapbook pages “pop” is to emboss them. It reminds me of using wax resist when we color our eggs, and that just makes me happy! 🙂
Comment by Carolyn— 04/05/2010 #
Very seldom can I do an Easter LO without including some sort of ribbon. It just adds such a soft touch to the LO.

We use those clear crayons to write on the egg before dying it—-the dye dosen’t adhere to it—kinda like using resist
