I can’t believe the new year is already upon us. Where does the time go? If your life is anything like mine, then 2009 flew by before you could take in all that was going on. The year had its ups and downs—the expected and the unexpected. It was full of change—some of it good, some of it not so good; some of it by choice, some of it not by choice.

As I contemplated the past year, I decided my main goal for 2010 is to make more of life’s changes be determined by me. Not just changes in circumstances, but changes in me. Stampin’ Up! makes a stamp set entitled “Define Your Life.” I love this set, not just because it makes great scrapbook pages and cards (which it does), but because its title speaks to me as well. I, probably like most of you, feel I can use a little more definition in my life.

This year, I’m determining to define my life. To define what I want to be, where I want to go, and how I’m going to make that happen. To not just let life happen, but to make it happen.

It’s said that in order to achieve your goals, you have to write them down. I’m going to take a little spin on this theory and create a Define Your Life journal for myself, with a 6″ x 6″ page dedicated to each aspect I want to be, do, or learn over the next year. I’m not worried about creating every page right now. I’ll be adding to the journal as the year goes on.  I’ll still be working on scrapbooking the events in my life, but I’m hoping that having these other types of pages will remind me to actively work toward making my life what I want it to be.

Maybe you’d like to spend more time with family,

  2. I want to love others more deeply, care more and serve more. It is a daily commitment that I ask for in prayer.

    Awesome package. Happy New Year!

  3. I keep my perspective on life through my work as a radiation therapist – everyday I see people battling for thier lives. I am forever grateful for my health and the health of my loved ones. My prayer is that continues throughout the new year.

  4. Looking forward to slowing down a lottle in 2010. Just too much rushing in 2009. Also will celebrate my son returning from Afghanistan in June.

  6. Happy New Year! Love Stampin Up — winning would be a great way to start 2010!

  7. last year, i wrote my “goals” on a little piece of paper and stapled it into my planner. that way, i could look back all year long to see what i hoped to achieve. i did manage some, but others were out of reach still. i’m going to do the same this year, and I pray that God will help me to focus on the goals that are in line with his will.

  8. thanks for sharing…love the define your life part…food for thought! Happy New Year!

  9. I am an avid DayTimer user. I just switched to a new format for 2010 that will allow me to keep the whole year in one binder, thereby making it easier to keep closer tabs on my goals and successes throughout the year. I also have designated people to which I am accountable for goals-that helps to keep me focused.

Thanks for the chance to win some Stampin Up stuff-I love their stuff.

  10. Thanks for the chance to win.

  11. Love giveaways and love, love, love SU products!! My goal is to try to have more happiness in my life this year, even though that seems to have out of my control in the past. My family has experienced several tragic events this past year, and we just want life to return to some kind of normal.

  17. Oh man that looks like a super cute corner punch! I don’t know what it is about punches lately but they are taking over my stash area lately! Of course I have always loved stamps but MAKE WAY for the punches! 🙂

  18. I am always looking for new supplies to add to my collection! I have a serious goal of getting my house organized this year. We moved in 2008 and we still have so much in the garage packed into boxes. I hope to get rid of some it!

  19. It’s hard to believe that its 2010! I can’t wait to see what it holds! Thanks for the chance to win!

  27. I love the pages you showed! Very fun! And I had not seen those Stampin Up stamps yet – very fun! I would love to win those!!

  28. happy new year! I love SU and am looking forward to a good year.

  29. Happy new Year to all! I’m hoping I will find a little more patience this year to deal with my 2 preschoolers – they’ve been quite a challenge this past year! And I’d like to get my scrapbooking all caught up so that it is is easier to scrap memories (when I don’t have to think back over a year…).

  30. My family helps keep me motivated. Knowing that what I do I do for them. Also, hopping around getting ideas helps keep me going.

  31. such wonderful scrapping inspiration 😀 I like to make lists to remind me of what I need to get done each day, and when I see all my items for the day checked off, it gives a great sense of accomplishment at the end of the day 🙂

  32. Love the idea of the Define Yourself. I resolved this year to put more of myself into our scrapbooks so one day people will know who i was and what i was thinking.

  33. I have been looking for a word to focus on for the year–inspired by Ali Edwards, and define may just fit. Thank you!

    Christine

  34. Happy New Year!

I would love to get my hands on some SU-papers.
Never had the chance and they always look so yummy!

Thank you for this great give-away!

  35. I plan to keep a scrapbook journal with my goals and achievements. I plan to embellish the front so that it is so cute I can’t help but use it. Inside I want to add photos (cardstocka and patterned papers) and journal my thoughts as I try to be the best ME I can be this year.

  36. I have a few goals in scrapboking this year that I know will challenge me and test my abilities. Or more like bump up my abilities. Fingers crossed!!

  37. Fabulous giveaway, count me in!

  38. You always inspire me with the layouts shared on the blog. Thanks!

  39. What a terrific package! Would love to be the winner & start 2010 off with a bang! Thanks for offering this!

  40. I keep a daily journal—it keeps my sane, motivated, and most of all a keeper of my thoughts and daily activities.—It’s “my story”

  41. Thanks for the great inspiration! I’ll have to think more about how I would “define” myself…Stampin’ Up! products are my favorites!

  42. This is something I struggle with as well. I am not ready to start an album, but I do try to write my goals down.

  43. I live by my calendar and it’s going to be even more so this new year when it’s going to get crazy. But what keeps me going is my family and their encouragement!

  44. I just made myself a “motivation basket” and I’m keeping lots of little stuff and articles to keep me motivated in my goals for 2010. Whenever I feel a bit “lost”, i can grab that basket and get a quick pick-me-up to keep me on track!

  45. Love the layouts. Would LOVE to win some SU!!
    Happy New Year!

  46. The clear heart stamp would sure come in handy for Valentine’s Day and our 45th wedding anniversary coming up this July. My hubby loves getting hand made cards.

  47. Gorgeous LOs.

I think the best way to stay on track with your goals is to check in at least once a month and then plan what steps you can take in the month ahead to get closer to accomplishing them.

  48. Hoping to be a bit more purposeful and organized in my life this year. Less reactive, more proactive.

  49. My family helps me keep things in perspective!

  50. I love this idea. I’m trying to get back into scrapbooking and this would be a wonderful way to jump start it.

  51. I want to enjoy more of the little things and scrapbook more (card making kinda took over)! Happy New Years to everyone!

  52. I want to explore my creativity more. Not be afraid to just try. I so love this give away! Can the stamp set by Define Your Life? I think I really need that stamp set!

  53. One of my goals is to scrapbook more pages in 2010 and keep them simple so I preserve as many memories as possible. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  54. Yeah! Another great give-away, wonderful start for 2010! Thanks CK, hoping to win 🙂

    Best wishes to everyone!

  55. my friends help me out alot! My friend and i are going to take a picture a day this year and i have my picture today, but its hard to think what picture i was going to do, i know my friend will help me out with this and anything else i may need!

  56. I stay motivated by reading the Bible and spending time in prayer with the Lord. Lately I’ve been reading the book, Heaven: Your Real Home, by Joni Eareckson Tada which has really motivated me to be heaven-minded more and more. This life counts toward the next more than we know!

  57. So fun. Thanks for a chance to win! I’m going to work on journaling more this year as a way to be more accountable for the things I want to change.

  58. Happy New Year Lara!

Well, this is going to sound corny, there are two facts that define that (in me):

    1) My parents taught me that not only I could always do anything I wanted (as long as I was aware of it and proposed myself to achieve it by setting my mind on it) but to always be the best on every little thing I do, that just a “ok” or “medium” achievement is not enough; they taught me that I have to dream for the stars and how I had to reach for them, by working hard on my goals, setting realistic goals but never allowing anything or anybody to tell me that I couldn’t do it, as the only person that can say so, is me (needless to say that I’ve gone far and beyond 🙂 ).
    2) I’m really close to my family (inmediate and extended) because of my heritage (latino), so, as long as I can make them happy and proud of the person I am, that makes me happy.
These 2 are the main facts that keep me going.

Regarding the goals, well, it’s funny because it’s a tradition in my home country, that on New Year’s Eve you write down your goals, and by the time it is 12:00 am, everybody starts eating 12 grapes, one by one reciting their goals for the new year. There is some people that keep those goals afterward in a small pouch hidden in their closet, or some others burn it. I have kept them in my journal, so that whenever I’m loosing my way (hey, nobody is perfect, and circumstances do try to drag you in) I can go back to my path by reading those goals and why I set them.

  59. I would like to be more purposeful also in this year. I am retired and it is so easy to just let life happen instead of making your life happen the way you want it to. I would love to scrapbook more pages this year and keep my scrapbooking supplies more organized to accomplish that goal! Happy New Year and thanks for the opportunity to win this great prize!

  60. I’m going to make a lists… I think that will help me accomplish the things I need to do each day.

    Happy New Year.

  61. I am so excited for 2010!! My hubby got a job 2,000 miles from our home state, but we are ready to start our adventure with our two little boys. I can’t wait to organize my studio in our new house, and get to know our new town. The give-away is awesome! I {heart} Stampin’ Up!!

  62. Thank you for the giveaway! Love SU stuff…just don’t have too many as I am on a very limited budget. Looking forward to documenting 2010…I am planning a weekly gratitude page…cuz I am so thankful for my life as it is right now.

  63. Happy New Year. I, too, am Making this a Year of Me. Good luck in all your pursuits!!

  64. I would love to start the new year off right by winning some Stampin Up goodies. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

  65. Happy New Year! Thanks for the chance to win. LOVE Stampin’ Up products!

  66. Thanks for a chance to win. My 2010 motto is Change for the Better.

  67. It helps me to just take things one day at a time.

  68. What a great giveaway! I’ve been struggling with many health issues the past several years, at this point I can only do what I can to stay healthy, the disease has it’s own thing going on and wants to stop me at every step-so instead of worrying about losing weight, or exercising too much, I know I can only do my best each day–if my body says rest, then that’s what I need to do. I’m on a terribly restricted diet because of food allergy issues, so that I just need to stay away from things my body can’t tolerate, eat what I can and carry on–don’t stress the small stuff!

  70. I am definitely adding more exercise to the routine…whether it’s in short bursts of dancing or long bike rides, I need more daily activity.

And I’m going to use more of my stash for crafting!!

  71. Love this idea for a year-long project!

  72. What a great New Year’s Theme! I think I will try that as well. And what a great prize package, I can’t wait to see Stampin Up’s new mounting system!

Thank you and Happy New Year!

  73. Great question, I really think it’s a personal process that everyone must go through. For me, I’m thinking of a personal album, or maybe some micro-scrapping that I can put in my own personal journal.
This year I’m trying to think about not over-committing myself. Do what I feel like, when I feel like. Certainly, I would like to get into better shape and have a few changes, but overall, I cannot complain.
Love the Jan 2010 issue. Just picked up my copy.
    Thanks for the post!

  74. I used to keep diaries, but now that I scrapbook, I keep track of my goals, achievements and even setbacks that way. Happy New Year 🙂

  75. I try to remember that it is not all about me and try to be who God created me to be. I quite a lot of scriptures to myself!

  76. I hope to “let go” more this year. I get too obsessed with small details, and then I’m not able to finish up projects in a timely fashion. This is true in my scrapping, as well as other areas of life…so I hope this is the time to stop worrying and start DOing!
Thanks for the chance to win! Best wishes to everyone in their goals this year!

  77. I like your idea of the Define Your Life Journal.
I stay motived by taking small steps, doing a little at a time so I constantly feel successful. I figure a little is better than none.
    Happy New Year!

  78. What a great giveaway! Thanks for helping me to stay motivated to document my family’s life.

  79. Happy New Year! I stay motivated with breakfast every morning! Thanks for the chance to win some lovely stamps.

  80. Wow…I didn’t know Stampin’ Up had begun to offer clear stamp sets. That’s exciting! Thanks for the chance to win.

  81. Happy New Year! I would like to become more organized this year and document more of the little things in my life.

  82. My family and friends help motivate me. Happy New Year!

  83. I am determined to make 2010 my most productive year yet for craft projects. Thanks for all the inspiration from your magazine and the talented readers who contribute too!

  84. Cool! I love Stampin Up stuff! I would love to win this! I am looking forward to new beginnings for our house in 2010!

  85. My motivation seems to come in spurts. I wish I knew how to keep it steady because I’m not sure the bursts are effective 🙂
    Here’s to a motivational year.

  86. great layouts! Thanks for the giveaway. I am hoping 2010 will bring job opportunities for my family

  87. I have been sitting and finally catching up on my Creating Keepsakes reading. I feel so motivated to get going again on my scrapbooking. I love the end results just hate cleaning the mess.

  88. Wishing you all a wonderful new year of fresh beginnings for 2010…I’m thinking long & hard about changes I need to make in order to make LIFE GOOD in 2010. Thanks for the chance to win!

  89. Cute layouts. I just want to take time to do more things I enjoy in 2010, like spending time with my children and playing with paper.

  90. I have been fortunate to find a way to help others using my passion…card making. My goal for 2010 is to serve others as a regular part of my everyday. I have been so blessed by the experience.

  91. Love these LO–my mom just renewed my subscription…so I should get a mag soon:) Thanks for the giveaway:) HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New Year’s reso:: spending time with my husband

  92. I am excited about the new clear stamps with SU! would love to win that prize package – yessirree! Looking forward to reading all the tips on staying motiviated myself!
New Years REsolution : Exercise more and eat healthier – already started just have to keep it up! Get fit!

  93. I love the New year and birthdays because it gives me a reason to think about how I am doing and what I want to change. A good time for retrospection. Thanks for the motivational and creative ideas.

  94. This year I would like to answer this question everyday: What have I done for some one today? I feel that if I can answer with even the smallest of service, I will become a better mother, wife, friend, sister, neighbor, and daughter. Each day will be better.

  95. Anything that helps keep me scrapping must be good. Love the look of the Jan issue, haven’t got mine yet, hopefully soon.

  96. I am picking one word for the year to concentrate on and use it to help me to achieve the year I want. My word for 2008 was “Learn” and for 2009, “Create”. This year it is “Enjoy”.

  97. I’ve decided I am going to do one thing every day that makes me feel good about myself. I have a little pocket calendar I’m going to write them in. As time goes by I think it will be interesting to scrap/art journal the large changes doing this will make in my life.

  98. What a great goal for 2010! I am standoff-ish about setting goals or making a resolution…most of the time they go by the waste-side. I am a Mother to 3 and most of the time, do not have the time I need, to do all of the things I would like to do, in even just a day….

I will have to think long and hard and maybe put a goal in WRITTING! Thank you so much and wishing you the very BEST in 2010!

    Cheers,
    ~Tonya

  99. I usually write my goals in my journal. And when I read them them then I think what I have done today to reach it. It makes me feel somehow personal about it and do it at once. Sometimes I write that on a small piece of paper and then at the end of the day I read it and think about it. Every time before I make a goal for me I ask God what I would need to do.

  100. The heart stamps are wonderful! My new years resolution is to make all of my cards this year and the stamps would start me off great. Thanks for a wonderful give away.

  101. I am looking forward to the new year and all the crafting I will accomplish.

  102. Very cute heart stamps. love them. instead of a list of goals, my one goal word is PEACE for 2010 (thank you ali). this is so much meaning and says everything to me and wraps up my goals or resolutions in a nut shell. happy, healthy and scrappy New Year

  103. my goal: to finally do a “book of me” this year; my scrapping is so focused on the family, and kids, that I am rarely found in them. This year, I fix all that and create a book that will let my kids know who I am as a person, rather than as their mother – an important role, and one I love, but not all there is to me….

  104. This is a great giveaway! I love stampin up! Happy New Year and many happy moments to scrapbook!

  105. so excited for the new year!

  106. I’m not very good about documenting things in my own life. I love to document things about my kids, so I guess that includes me too. But, my goals and dreams don’t only revolve around my kids. I’d really like to start a journal so that in 5, 10 and even 40 years, I can look back and see where I’ve been and how I’ve changed.

Looks like a fun giveaway too!

  107. I’m really excited for all that 2010 has to offer! Happy New Year to all!

  108. Thanks for the FREE font! Happy New Year to you!!

  109. Happy New Year! May all your wishes come true. Mine will definitely be to win this awesome prize, lol.

  110. For the past few years, I have been creating a journal for the year to document my goals and how I have (or haven’t) achieved them. It’s nice to have a a place to refer back to my thoughts and reasoning – sometimes it serves as a great motivator, and sometimes it makes me revise my goals.

  111. I didn’t even know SU! started doing clear! WOW! 🙂
It is a challenge to stay positive- especially when life hands you lemons on occasion! Sometimes I literally have to count my blessings- that usually works! 🙂

  112. Last year my theme of the year was thrive while survive, since there were a few hurdles in my year. This year I would like to get back to what I enjoy, beyond surviving. I’m jumping back into scrapbooking, getting out to enjoy nature and just enjoying life.

  113. 2009 was a tough year with many personal struggles…In these struggles, I found out who I am. I resolve to scrap who I am this year. I started many things last year which didn’t get finished. So this year, I took the “Notes” notebook created at CKConvention (which I was afraid to use). I am using the tabs to divide up my life into sections with lists of things I want to do. As I complete them…I will date it. At the end of the year…the entire notebook will be my final page of my 2010 book. In years to come..I will know exactly what I accomplished in 2010!!! Another personally successful year!!

  114. Last year I made a resolution to do more of what I love (like scrapbooking) and I’ve learned to say NO a lot more – like when asked to volunteer – I still do it, but I choose what I want to do. Good luck with your 2010 resolution and thanks for a great publication!

  115. How fun! a giveaway to start the year off….now this is a great way to start!

  116. As a mother of three boys and a new little girl, this year was not about me at all. My goal in 2010 is to find time every 4-6 weeks to do something scrapbooking…anything! I also have taken a vow to myself to take pictures of all of my children, both individually and as a group each month. This is so that my annual “family pictures” calendar is quicker to do! I make this calendar for my mom, my mom-in-law, my sister and my grand-aunt. I would also like to schedule hubby time this year as well…sometimes (alot!) we forget the reason these kids have filled up our house! I hope to stay ahead of things, and not feel so overwhelmed each week!

  117. Winning would make my almost-40th-birthday awesome!

  118. Great layout ideas. Thanks for the chance to win some goodies!!

  119. Fun post, thanks for the chance to win!

  120. I love the idea of “Define Your Life”. This year I want to do that too. I want to travel more and enjoy life.

  121. I feel similar…after years of making & building a home & family….I’ve let defining slip to allowing life. It’s time to make choices that bring peace into every day.
Lovely stamp set 😉 Happy New (more peaceful) Year!

  122. Happy new year!! i hope start this year with lucky!!!

  123. As a new scrapper, I’m so excited to get ideas on how to keep a better record of whats been going on with my life. I’m hopeful that 2010 will be a great year and I’ve decided to do more things that make me happy, get more involved in my community and spend more time with my family. Thanks for all the encouragement and fun layouts.

  124. Love the paqges in this post. Thanks for the opportunity to win some SU stamos. Would love love them. Bye Irene

  125. I have made several new year’s resolutions (scrapbooking related and non-related). Maybe I’ve put too much on my plate but I’m hoping that my health will get better so that I can accomplish my goals.

  126. Happy New Year!!! Beautiful layouts. Love the idea of define your life. 2010 is going to be a busy year for me. A few trips coming up. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

  127. This will be a year of many good things…i’m changing me for the betterment of my family. Transformation, not goals, is my theme.

  128. Wow! I’m excited about the new SU products! Would love to win them 🙂 Happy New Year to you too!

  129. The Stampin Up products look great – thanks for the chance to win some! I’m hoping to slow down a little bit and enjoy my kids more – the time is flying by and now that my oldest is graduating high school I want to make sure to spend as much time as possible with them.

  130. I hope there is a lot less worry for my family about money.

  131. I really like the SU products. An instructor at class I take uses these sets and they are wonderful.

  132. These look great.

  133. Love the delight in the details design .. what a good way to put together some of my more random images!

  134. The products look just great. I am hoping to enjoy my family and myself 🙂 more.

  135. To make change and stay motivated I stay organized and set goals. I write my aspirations down and reflect on them weekly, if not daily. I also ask my sister to keep me accountable. This has really helped me a lot!

  136. I really hope my husband can be hired back from his employer after being caught in the 5th round of layoffs…it is so much more about the medical insurance benefits than even the paycheck for us…I think we are both just so exhausted from the constant worry. Thank you for a chance to win!

  137. I love the holidays but I am so glad I can get back to normal now. Thanks for the giveaways!

  138. Last year my goal was to create more and spend less time behind the computer and I did create more LO and cards. This year my goal is the same. I would love to win this prize.

  146. My goal this year is to be less stressed so I started a blog where I can process my feelings for the day. The goal is to find at least one thing out of the day that makes me happy. The blog motivates me to let go of stress while simultaneously documenting my progress toward my goal for this year.

  147. My husband and my best friend keep me motivated and focused on my goals. I keep a journal where I jott down life experiences.

  148. I keep motivated by learning to “live in the moment”. If I think only about right now, this very minute, then I tend to stay on track of what I want to accomplish and by the end of the day I pick out one thing that made me smile that day and that’s my last thought before drifting off to sleep.

  149. Love the do more with less ideas! I am planning on documenting my goals this year, think I will try a 6 x 6 album!

  150. I totally agree that you have to write your goals down to help motivate yourself. I love the idea of a “goal” journal or mini album! I’m adding that to my January to do list!
I personally want to submit more projects for publication. I’d love to be published this year!

  151. Stampin’ Up! is also one of my favorites for stamps. I really like the concept of creating a 6×6 album of things I want to accomplish. Puts a way better spin on just writing things in a notebook or journal. I may have to follow in your footsteps. This may inspire me to actually complete the things on my list. Thanks!!!

  152. I love all of these layouts and can’t wait to start crafting this year. I have a bunch of clear stamps and no blocks — silly me. My fingers are so crossed for this giveaway.

  156. I’m new to stamping and don’t have any Stampin Up stuff yet — I hope to change that soon :o)
I love the layouts and hope my January issue shows up before the end of the month!

  157. I love this giveaway. My new year resolution is to do family scrapbooks for my brother and two sisters of our growing up years. I want to have the scrapbooks done by 2010 Thanksgiving. Setting a completion date keeps me motivated.

  158. Love the stampin up stamps!! My goal this year in scrapbooking is to use the tools and products that I have been collecting for the last year or so. I have so many things I need to use and try new techinques.

  159. How exciting! I did not know that Stampin’ Up was making clear stamps now.
    LaRisa P.

  160. I have a list of resolutions written down in a journal so I can constantly review it and assess how I am doing. This year was rough with job loss, etc. I am not sure what 2010 holds, but hopefully something financially rewarding!
