Welcome, Brenda Peterson!

- Remember the TV show M*A*S*H? On the show, there was a character named Radar O’Reilly who seemed to have extra-sensory perception. He was always handing papers or forms to his Colonel before he asked for them, placing phone calls for the Colonel before the Colonel made the request, or hearing incoming medic helicopters before anyone else could. Brenda Peterson is like Radar O’Reilly (minus the ability to hear incoming helicopters, of course).
Who is Brenda Peterson, you ask? Brenda is the newest member of the Creating Keepsakes team and is our new editorial assistant. Being an editorial assistant is “old hat” to Brenda, because she has been a valued member of the Paper Crafts team for almost 5 years. We’re absolutely thrilled to have her on our team and to utilize her talents. (We’d also like to publicly thank the Paper Crafts team for sharing her with us.) She is our right-hand woman, and she has already made a huge impact on our team. I’m feeling more organized already!

To help all of you get to know our newest team member a little bit better, we’ve asked Brenda to answer a few questions.
CK: Tell us a little about your personal life.
BP: I have three teenagers, Cameron 19, Cody 17 and Carly 14, who keep me very busy. I have been married to my best friend, Mike, for 23 years and love every minute of it. We have lived in Utah for 18 years. Each new stage in my life has brought a new and exciting adventure. I say “Bring it!”

CK: How long have you been with our company? With Paper Crafts?
BP: I have been with the company for 8 years and on September 4th will celebrate my 5-year anniversary with Paper Crafts . Jennafer Martin (Creating Keepsakes Editor-in-Chief) was my first boss when I started with Crafts magazine. It will be great to work with her again.
CK: What is your favorite thing about your job?
BP: Being a people person, I love helping people. Now I can work with a team of ladies that I also call friends. My job gives me many tasks throughout the day to accomplish and I love that.
CK: What are your favorite vacation spots, foods, movie, types of music, crafts to make?
BP: We love to go camping in the nearby mountains. I love to cook, garden, and jam to loud music (usually 80’s rock) on my commute home. I have always been doing some kind of craft, but I have to say scrapbooking is still one of my favorites. It makes me feel like I am preserving my family’s history, memories and events to remember. I am involved in a stamp club, card group and, most recently, a recipe swap group. Never a dull moment at my house.
CK: Share your favorite back-to-school memory.
BP: I would have to say my favorite back-to-school memory is our family tradition of finding the first day outfit. I then will take the kids to school and take a picture with their teacher. Nothing like the first day of school to make me nostalgic.
CK: How do you feel about working with the CK team?
BP: I am very excited about working with the CK team. It isn’t like my job has changed—just that my work team has grown in size. Most of the ladies I work with I have known and now I get to work with them, too. I love a challenge and this new challenge will give me the chance to sharpen my juggling skills! I just hope I can add value to the CK team and help with responsibilities so the editors can continue to create an awesome magazine.
Thanks to Brenda for answering our questions! Leave a comment and help us welcome her to the team!
